TeamWorks Definitions
Strategic Roadmap
A Strategic Roadmap is a simple, clear and well-organized
presentation (usually captured on a single page) that provides shared agreement
and understanding of the organization’s “big picture” including:
-
Mission
-
Core Qualities
-
Vision
-
Strategic Directions
-
Success Measurement System
-
Structural Organization for Decision-Making and Consultation
Success System
A Success System is the development of an integrated,
whole system assessment of the health of the organization. Success Systems are based
upon the Balanced Scorecard work by Kaplan and Norton of Harvard University and
the Balanced Scorecard Collaborative.
It is most helpful for organizations to develop Success
Metrics for each of the Strategic Directions of the Strategic Roadmap.
A rubric of the quantitative and qualitative measures is developed and each
of the measures are weighted. Baseline measurements are taken and the Operational
Plan details the intentions of the organization to increase its performance within
the Success System.
Environmental
Scan
An Environmental Scan is a specific methodology to develop
and organize information about an organization’s internal and external environments
to track key trends and influences. The Environmental Scan is normally a key initial
step in the Strategic Roadmap process.
An internal scan answers the questions:
-
“What are the strengths and weaknesses, assets and liabilities
of the organization’s products, services, processes, people, stories and identity?”
-
“What do our actions and practices reveal about our culture?”
An external scan answers the questions:
-
“Who are the most influential stakeholders, competitors,
partners and collaborators?”
-
What issues (e.g., political and legislative trends and
mandates) are emerging in the community?”
FrameWorks
FrameWorks are graphical images that help guide and support
leadership and organizational development. Developed and delivered exclusively by
TeamWorks professionals, these simple, memorable images provide both a process and
a frame of reference through which leaders can interpret and manage complex webs
of situations, environments, people and influences.
Analytics
Analytics is the synthesis of client data and relevant external data derived from
demographic research, surveys and cultural analyses to deepen an organization’s
understanding of both challenges and opportunities.
